Winona Forever, PEÑA, The Moondrops at Bottom of the Hill

Story and photos by Belicia Luevano – June 20, 2023

It’s been an exciting year for Winona Forever and we’re only halfway there! On top of playing SXSW as an official artist, making an appearance at Treefort Festival and going on a 28-stop North American tour, they dropped their 3rd LP, “Acrobat,” in February.

They’ve been booked and busy, we’ve been glad to have them as a Howdyfest artist, present their Austin show at The Ballroom as well as catch their show at their San Francisco stop at Bottom of the Hill.

Before Winona Forever took the stage, local acts, The Moondrops and PEÑA, already had folks packed in and moving to the music. Both Bay area bands have had their own share of an exciting year.

The Moondrops took home 1st place at the The Battle of The Bands in Berksley that solidified their slot at Shebang Music Festival in early May.

PEÑA, one of the first bands I saw and was immediatey hooked when I moved here, just dropped “EN VIVO,” a live EP that features the new full PEÑA since transitioning from a solo act to a full 6-piece.

Put all three fantastic acts together and you get a beautiful night of music.
